The Year of the Breaks

So.......as many of you already know, this is the year of the breaks for the Bock Family. Not only did Emma break her leg in June (cast was on for 8 weeks and no walking) but she now has a broken arm to add to the list! Two days before Thanksgiving, Emma decided to try and jump off a chair while Jacob and I were in the other room. I think the chair toppled while she was trying to jump but I all know is I heard a scream and then Emma came in our room with an arm that was clearly broken. She broke both bones in her forearm (30 degree break!!) and had to have the bones reset just like her leg. Mom, of course, had to leave and Dad took good care of Emma until it was done and I was able to come back and love her!! She is doing so much better than the leg because she can still walk and do a lot of things. I guess we will just have to not let her do pretty much anything in the future to ensure that this does not keep happening! We love our little Emma and she has been such a trooper through the Year of the Breaks!

Five Year Anniversary!

Jacob and I celebrated our 5 year anniversary on Nov. 19th. We decided to keep it simple and went and stayed at the Mission Inn while my WONDERFUL sister and brother-in-law (MB and Nathan) took our girls for the weekend. We loved the Mission Inn and even got upgraded to an awesome room! It was gorgeous but the best part was the shower had TWO shower heads! We stayed up late, slept in, ate some yummy cupcakes, saw the new Harry Potter movie, went shopping and spent the evening at the Santa Monica pier where we had our first date and where Jacob proposed. It was a wonderful and relaxing weekend!!

Halloween!

Last night we went to our annual ward Trunk or Treat and it was a lot of fun! I didn't get any pictures at the party because there was too much going on but I did get some pictures before we left. Since the girls were the cutest insects you have ever seen, Jacob agreed to do a fun costume with me and put on some bumblebee wings and antennas. Everyone at church got a good laugh and Jacob was a sport for doing it!

Live Oak Pumpkin Patch

This year we decided to go to the Live Oak Pumpkin Patch because I was doing it as an outing for CAVA. We got to go on a tractor ride, learn about the different types of pumpkins, see animals in the petting zoo, and pick out our own pumpkins. My favorite part of the trip was seeing the turkey. It was so old and big and so funny! It kept getting mad at us and raising all of his feathers and then gobbling at us. Emma really got a kick out of it too. I think the girls really enjoyed this trip!

Carving Pumpkins

For the past five years (?) we have carved pumpkins with our good friends Neal and Meleah. They live in Long Beach so we don't get to see them too often but we always make time for our annual pumpkin carving and gingerbread house decorating. This year we have a couple of little ones with us so it is getting harder but they loved the pumpkins. We really enjoy this annual tradition!

Emma turns 3!

Emma turns 3 this Saturday and we had her first "friends" party this last Saturday. It was a lot of hard work but it was fun too! We had 13 kids (call me crazy) and a lot of cupcakes. Emma loved having her friends over so it made all of the work so worth it. We love Emma and all of her crazy antics! A few things about Emma:
- she remembers EVERYTHING you tell her - no getting away with unfulfilled promises!
- she loves to sing songs
- she knows most of her letters, knows all of the shapes and colors and can count to twenty
- she had recently decided her favorite color is purple
- likes to play mommy with Maddie
- loves to be pushed on the swing and will stay there forever (right, Uncle Nathan?)
- will sit and watch movies and Mickey Mouse all day if I let her (which I don't!)
- gives the cheesiest grin when you ask her to smile
- like to wear her pink rain boots
- is the cutest, most lovable toddler I know!

The Kitchen is Complete!

Our kitchen is finally complete!! Jacob and I (Jacob mostly) did the entire kitchen BY OURSELVES! I know.....amazing! I love it. I couldn't ask for a more talented husband. I realize the "before" pic is tiny but I am having problems with it.
