My Awesome Birthday Get Away!!

As many of you may know, I don't have the best luck with my birthdays. My family calls it my "birthday curse" because things always go wrong on my birthday. Last year was the final straw for me when Emma broke her leg on my birthday. So this year, I told Jacob I didn't want to celebrate at all! I just wanted to stay home with my little family and keep them all safe!! Well, he didn't listen very well. He came home from work that morning and surprised me with a trip to Palm Springs for a few days!! Let me tell you......it was AMAZING! We went to this awesome little resort that my sister had gone to and it didn't disappoint. They were so friendly there and it was so private. There are only ten rooms there all surrounding a beautiful pool and no kids are allowed! They had all sorts of FREE snacks, drinks, movies and games. All we did was watch movies in bed while we ate and swim. It was wonderful! I can't wait to go back there again! This is the front gate to the resort. This is where we stayed...it doesn't look like much from the outside but it is awesome!A picture of our room.Eating in bed! Gotta love it!You can see all ten rooms right around the pool.We took this picture from our doorstep. We ate at a popular burger place called Tyler's and it was yummy! This place even has bikes you can take and ride around. I didn't dare actually ride it so we just took a picture with it!

Maddie Turns 2!!

I can't believe that Maddie is 2 years old now!! She definitely doesn't look like it because she is so small and has practically no hair. But her attitude is big enough for a 2 year old! We had a small get together with family to celebrate and just had a good time playing with our family. Here are a few things about Maddie right now:

1. She is as stubborn as can be but very independent.
2. She LOVES to sing songs....especially princess ones.
3. She really loves Ariel and even sleeps with a baby Ariel every night.
4. She finally just starting getting her canine teeth in - it took forever.
5. She screams at anything and everything.
6. If you yell at her, she gives you the saddest pouty face and then lays on the ground and cries.
7. She is always asking for hugs and kisses.
8. In the morning, she likes to sit with her mommy in the recliner and watch the Disney channel.
9. She sleeps in a toddler bed.
10. She can sing the alphabet pretty well and count to ten (thanks to playing hide and seek with daddy!)
11. She loves the water!! She has a floaty that she uses and will jump off of anything.

Father's Day 2011

We had another great Father's Day this year! Jacob got home from work and got some yummy french toast to eat. Then he was able to open his presents and the cards that they girls made him. The best part of the morning was when the girls sang him "I'm So Glad When Daddy Comes Home". They were both able to sing and do the actions with it and it was so cute!! Jacob then had to go to bed but when he woke up we had a yummy dinner of roast beef with both of our moms. It was a wonderful day!

Llama, Llama

This is just too cute not to mention! My girls love the Llama, Llama books and lately they have taken to reading them to each other. Maddie will sit and read the book to Emma but all she really says is "Llama, Llama, Llama, LLama....". Then, when they get to the "scary" page, they both yell "Oh NOOO!". It is totally hilarious!

Trip to the Beach

Our friends Jacob and Jessica Prince came to visit us this month and we took a trip to the beach since Jessica had never been! We went to Oceanside but it was too cold to go in the water. But we still had a great time digging in the sand and building sand castles. The girls really enjoyed it and loved collecting all of the rocks that were there as well. Hopefully we can go back to the beach sometime and actually get in the water!

Back on the Beach

Jacob and I had our first date at a little restaurant in Santa Monica called "Back on the Beach". We tried to go back for our first anniversary only to find out that it is only open in the summertime! So when our good friends, Jacob and Jessica Prince, came for a visit, we decided to go there and eat and enjoy the Santa Monica pier. The food is really good but the atmosphere there is my favorite. I love the beach and all of the crazy characters that you get to see on the pier!

These chairs cracked me up! It looks like Jacob is sitting at the kiddie table! Please disregard the fact that my eyes are closed!I have no idea what this swing is really for but it was enough to make me laugh! One of the many crazies on the pier! This guy is hilarious with his asian accent! Some more crazies on the pier!

Ice cream with Daddy!

When Jacob comes home in the morning from work, he likes to sit and have a little ice cream before going to bed. The girls have quickly realized this and sit right next to him when he gets home so they can have some ice cream too. It has become a little tradition for them! They are definitely "Daddy's girls!"
