Sledding in Utah

Our family decided to go and visit some friends and family in Utah after Christmas and we had a lot of fun. Besides getting to see everyone, the best part of the whole trip was probably taking Emma sledding. We didn't want to get crazy with her so we took her out to the street that was iced over in front of the house we were staying at. I wasn't sure how she would react to Jacob pulling her around but she loved it!! It was so much fun watching her and Jacob run up and down the street. She went on her back, stomach, knees, and bum. Emma just couldn't get enough of it!

Ok, so I have gotten some slack about my lack of updating my blog. I admit it.....I am not very good at keeping this up. But I try! So here is a quick glimpse of our Christmas.

We had so much fun in New York! We would recommend to anyone that this is one place you should visit in your lifetime. There are so many great and wonderful things to visit!! We love New York!

Preserving Marriage - Vote YES on Prop 8

I firmly believe that we need to unite together and vote YES on proposition 8. Here are a few facts to think about:

Having tolerance without condoning.
We can love someone while still maintaining and advocating our standards and beliefs.

Unless Proposition 8 passes, California society will soon undergo a profound change in its basic understanding of marriage and family life.
That will affect everyone in numerous ways. Over time, greater acceptance of nontraditional marriage will be demanded of all people. This could impact the ability of any religion to teach and practice its beliefs.

Proposition 8 will not hurt gays.
In California, the law provides for marriage-related benefits to be given to civil unions and domestic partnerships. Proposition 8 does not diminish these benefits.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt children.
If gay marriage remains legal, public schools will put it on equal footing with traditional marriage. Children will likely receive “age appropriate” information about sexual relations within heterosexual and homosexual marriages.

Failure to pass Proposition 8 will hurt churches.
The court’s decision will inevitably lead to conflicts with religious liberty and free speech rights. Society will become more and more hostile to traditional beliefs about marriage and family.

For Labor Day, Jacob and I took Emma and went to the beach with MB and Nathan. It was so much fun!! It started out with a fight over a parking place, and a lot of drizzle, but when the sun finally came out, it was all worth it. Emma took a few minutes to get used to the water but then she had a blast. While Jacob, MB and Nathan tried to build a fort on the sand, Emma had fun trying to "dig" in the sand with them. She was covered in sand from head to toe and, of course, in the mouth as well. What do you expect? We even put Emma in "the fort" and then buried half her body. I don't even think she noticed! All in all, it made for a very fun day. Thanks MB and Nathan!!
