Maddie's Eating Extravaganza!
So back when Maddie was like four months old, I tried to start feeding her solids. It did not work out! She has the longest, craziest tongue and she could not figure out how to keep the food in her mouth. So I waited until she was six months old and tried again and it has turned out much better.....although she is still figuring out how to control that tongue. My favorite is when I start to get the food ready, or when I hold out a cracker for her to eat. She gets so excited and starts kicking her legs and reaching out her hands while making the most hilarious panting sound. It kills me everytime! The pictures don't do it justice.....luckily I have it on video.

Christmas 2009
We had a wonderful Christmas this year! It was so fun watching Emma get so excited with the presents. She was so good waiting and just kept asking "Open presents?" When Christmas morning finally came and I went and got her out of bed, she ran into our room and jumped on top of dad and said "Open presents now?" It was so cute! So we ran downstairs and opened our presents. Of course Emma helped open everyone's presents. We brought out her little kitchen at the end and she absolutely loved it! Then it was time to take her outside to show her the trampoline. Jacob and I went outside first with the camera and video camera and then grandma walked her outside. The very first thing she said when she came around the corner was "I want to swing!" We laughed and then pointed out the trampoline to which she replied, "Oh!! Jump!" And then she jumped for as long as we would let her......and she loved it! Then we got ready and went to Grandma Jones' for breakfast with the family. We had a good time eating and opening presents. Then we came back to our house where we made dinner and had our moms and a family from our ward come over for dinner. We had so much fun playing our new video game and hanging out.
Wearing our pajamas on Christmas Eve.
Emma playing with her new drum.
She loved the apple/alphabet toy from Uncle Mike and Aunt Doo.

Maddie playing with her new toy....she is very fascinated by it!

Maddie's shirt says, "All I want for Christmas is My Auntie!"
Opening presents in mass chaos.
Grandma actually got on and jumped with Emma for a while....totally hilarious!

Our Utah Trip!
Ok...so it was probably the worst trip to Utah ever! But we at least had a lot of fun with the Jensen's, as we always do! I hadn't seen Rachael, Adam and Jared in 3 years because of a marriage and a mission so it was great to see them again! But the rest of the trip was pretty crazy. Here is a quick run down of our trip:
- woke up at 1:00 am to leave and Maddie had a fever of 103
-Emma rolls down the window a few hours into the trip and loses our reindeer antler
-Stop in Vegas to clean up the throw up and poop that is all over Maddie
-5:30 am is when Emma finally goes back to sleep
-constantly checking Maddie's temp as I try to get her to drink something
-Emma starts to cry, then cough, then.......throws up everywhere. Apparently she gets car sick.
-Pull over in the snow, sandals, and sweats rolled up to try and clean her up.
-Highway patrol stops us to tell us its not safe to stop in the snow. "Thank you!! Didn't realize that. Appreciate the tip! Just trying to get the throw-up off of our daughter!"
-Pull over to get Emma some food but nothing is open at 7:30 in the morning in Utah.
-Finally find Wendy's open and Emma eats and feels better. (Here is where we realized we lost an antler!)
-Girls fall asleep for while....Bliss!
-Katie almost has a potty accident in the car.....can't find a place to stop anywhere!! Finally get an exit and the gas station won't let me use the toilet because their electricity went out. (WT??) Almost lost it as we drove a few miles down the road to LDS Cove Fort and then stunk up their bathroom for 20 mintues.
-LDS missionaries beg us to stay and watch a movie until we tell them we have throwing up and pooping kids in the car and we need to leave.
-Finally arrive in Provo/Alpine!
-Jensens have huge dinner planned with EVERYBODY coming over, and Maddie screams during the entire thing.
-Finally get Maddie to bed, but then we have to put Emma in the same room and it doesn't look good.
-Decide to put Maddie to sleep in the bathroom, and then move her over to our room later.
-Wake up Monday morning at 5:30 am with Maddie and start making phone calls to find a doctor.
-Take Maddie, with 103 fever still, to doctor just to have them tell us everything looks fine.
-Come back and try to salvage the rest of the day....at least Maddie isn't screaming.
-Go to meet Jacob's sister for dinner in Salt Lake but she calls to say she is stuck in traffic. So we take the girls to see the lights at Temple Square.......and of course they don't turn them on!
-Eat at a pretty yummy sandwich place...head back.
-Wake up and head out to shop at distribution center and BYU bookstore.
-Go to lunch but then head back because Maddie's getting pretty fussy again.
-Head to dinner with old roommates from college. Tried to visit as we chased Emma around their apartment and tried to keep Maddie content.
-Head home and put girls to bed - one in bedroom and one in the bathroom.
-Wake up Wed. and take Maddie back to the doctor because fever is STILL 103. They tell us that now she has an ear infection - at least we can get some meds now.
-Head out to go shopping when Maddie's fever shoots to 104!!!
-Call Utah doctor and home doctor freaking out - they tell me to make sure she doesn't get a ceizure and let the medicine do its job.
-Stop at Sonic (second time that week) and then go back home to keep an eye on Maddie.
-Take Emma to a little hill by the house to try and get some sledding time in. She doesn't like the hill so Jacob just runs around with her on the sled. Mom stayed with feverish Maddie in the car.
-Ate a yummy rib dinner at home with no screaming.
-Did I mention the horrible gas Emma had while there?
-Reason for the gas you ask? Emma lets us know as she screams and cries for an hour straight trying to poop in her diaper. (She has some digestive problems and got a little backed up)
-Played games on the WII and just hung out.
-Wake up at 7:00 am to go back home - Maddie's fever is down!
-Stop in St. George to have lunch with Jacob's mission companion and meet his fiance. Maddie cries most of lunch.
-Stop on the side of the road TWICE to change Maddie's diaper because it is smelling up the car!
-Stop at Jack-in-the-Box in Baker to give Emma a chance to run around.
-Conversation as we get out - K: Did Emma spill her water? J:I don't think so - that water dripping out of the bottom of her pants leads me to believe something else. Great.
-Take Emma into the bathroom to change her clothes. Screams "I FALL! I FALL! at the top of her lungs while clinging to me as I try to put her on the changing table. Apparently she is now afraid of heights.
-Walk out of the bathroom will all eyes on the girl with the screaming toddler.
-Decide to get Emma some fries. She sees me in line and tries to run to me but misses and hits the table and faceplants instead. Everyone stares at the horrible parents laughing (after the laundry list of crap, what else were we to do but laugh?).
-Could it get any worse?? Keep reading.
-Finally get home and get the girls to bed as fast as possible.
-Try to relax and forget about all of the craziness.
-Jacob wakes up at 4:30 am to go to work.
-Katie wakes up at 6:30 am to Emma crying.
-Go in the room to discover diarrhea all over Emma and her bed. She is no longer backed up.
-Clean her up and call Jacob to tell him the good news. It just keeps on giving!
-Katie wakes up Saturday morning sick and decides to never go back to Utah again.(ok...not really. But she seriously considers it!)

Just Because.....
We have found Emma out of bed, sleeping like this a couple of times....so Jacob decided to join her.
Emma loves Elmo and insists on putting him down her shirt so she can carry him everywhere.
Maddie is learning to get up on her arms. She has mastered looking cute!
Maddie will put anything in her mouth!

Halloween!
We had a lot more fun with Halloween this year since Emma is starting to understand trick-or-treating. We started out the season by carving pumpkins with Neal and Meleah and then we went to our ward trunk-or-treat. Let me tell you....it wasn't exactly the best night ever. There were 3 wards there and it was way too crowded! I lost Emma (and obviously found her) and the trunk-or-treating didn't even start until 9:00 pm!! Talk about us and the girls being tired. But Emma and Maddie both looked adorable and it was worth watching Emma hold out her hand (she refused to hold her bag) for candy.
