Emma Got Her Cast Off!

Yea!!!! It has been the longest 8 weeks of my life but Emma finally got her cast off! The doctors told us that it might take a few weeks for her to start walking again but, with a little bribe of Disneyland, we got her walking the next day! These are pics of her very first time walking and she is on her way out the door to preschool. We are so happy to have our walking girl back!

First Day of Preschool!

Emma has started preschool and it is so much fun! She goes for 3 hours two times a week and she really loves it. They play, paint, cook, sing, color and learn. She still has her cast on which makes it a little hard since she still has to crawl everywhere but she is making it work!

Just Because....

I just have to post this picture because it makes me laugh so much. This is Emma sleeping under her bed with her curlers in. We often find her sleeping under her bed.....don't ask me why. She is Jacob's child!

Emma and The Broken Leg

Yes....you all read it correctly. Emma broke her leg about two weeks ago and it has been crazy. On my birthday (Happy Birthday to me!) we were actually trying to celebrate Maddie's first birthday. Before the party even began, Emma was jumping on the trampoline with her Uncle and her cousin. On a crazy double bounce, Emma just kind of collapsed and starting crying. So her Uncle Nathan carried her in to see her momma and I just thought she was a little hurt and needed some lovin'. But when she didn't stop crying, I started to get suspicious since she is usually a pretty tough girl. I measured her ankles and the hurt leg was 1/2 inch bigger. Poop! So we decided to have Jacob take her to the hospital while I stayed and tried to salvage Maddie's first birthday party so she could at least have some pictures to look back on. It didn't go so well. Jacob called me right when we sat down to open presents to tell me that not only did she break BOTH BONES in her leg, but that they were going to have to "set" it because the bones weren't straight. I was a mess by then so it was probably better I wasn't there. They had to send daddy out of the room while they did it and then brought him back in to be the "hero" and save her. She then got a soft cast with a splint on it for two weeks until the swelling went down and they were able to put a hard cast on her. Jacob had to leave the next day for high adventure for 5 days so my family (thank you!) came to help me until he got home. He also took the camera so I have a few random shots of her with her cast on. She is not able to walk on it at all but now that she has a hard cast on she has no problem getting around. She crawls everywhere, climbs up and down the stairs and can get on to any table or chair. She is quite the little trooper!

Girls Camp / High Adventure

Jacob and I both had the opportunity to go and spend some time with the youth in our ward....I went to Girls Camp and he went to High Adventure. Just a few highlights of our trip and then some pictures.

Girls Camp
* repelling down a huge (non-beginner) cliff* kayaking on the lake
* testimony meeting
* Wombats and "your mama"
* late nights with catch phrase

High Adventure
* jumping off a 40 ft. bridge
* making a swing to use to jump off 40 ft. bridge
* volleyball games in the sand
* jumping of 30 ft. cliffs
* and OF COURSE....white water rafting for two days

Maddie's First Birthday

The time has flown by and Maddie is already one! We had a lot of family over to help celebrate it. Although things didn't go as planned, we tried to make the best of it so that Maddie can see some memories of us celebrating her first birthday. (Emma broke her leg before the party even began but I will cover that in another post.) We had some yummy nachos, opened presents and enjoyed watching Maddie stare at her birthday cake since she didn't really eat it. She was an adorable 1 year old girl!

Disneyland with Grandmas!

In June we went to Disneyland with both grandmas and it was a lot of fun! The girls really loved being there with both of them. They both have passes now so we hope to do this more in the future!
